There is a triangle with sides 21,20 and 13. If a perpendicular is drwan in the side with length 21 from the opposite vertex, What will be the area of larger triangle the triangle is divided into?
Read Solution (Total 6)
-
- let the side 21 be divided into two parts- x and (21-x).
now apply pithagoras for both sides, and equal them with the perpendicular side.
(13)^2-x^2=(20)^2-(21-x)^2
solving, x=5
therefore, the area of larger side:
0.5*16*12=96 - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(30) No(3)
- answer is 96
- 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(2) No(4)
- the perpendicualar on opposite sides devides in ratio of 2:1
2x+x=21 of x=7
larger traingle side =2*7=14
p=sqrt(20^2-14^2)=14.28
area of larger traingle=1/2*14.28*14=99.96 or 100 - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(5)
- The area of the bigger half is 96 !!!

- perpendicular divides side 21 into x and 21-x
by pgt
13^2-x^2=20^2-(21-x)^2
x=5
area of larger side
0.5*16*21=168 - 7 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
