There is a triangle with sides 21,20 and 13. If a perpendicular is drwan in the side with length 21 from the opposite vertex, What will be the area of larger triangle the triangle is divided into?

• let the side 21 be divided into two parts- x and (21-x).
  now apply pithagoras for both sides, and equal them with the perpendicular side.
  (13)^2-x^2=(20)^2-(21-x)^2
  solving, x=5
  therefore, the area of larger side:

  2x+x=21 of x=7
  larger traingle side =2*7=14
  p=sqrt(20^2-14^2)=14.28
  area of larger traingle=1/2*14.28*14=99.96 or 100
