If x^2+y^2=0.1 and |x-y|=0.2, then |x|+|y| is equal to?

• It's 0.4.
  Substitute y=x-0.2 in circle equation(x^2+y^2=0.1) you will get 2 solutions 0.3 and -0.1 => y=0.1 or -0.3
  Hence |x| + |y| =0.4.
  By geometry this can be understood much better.

  |x-y|=0.2
  |x|+|y|=0.8+0.6=1.4
