There is a thread of length 100m. You need to cut the thread into pieces of 1m length. For first cut the thread becomes two pieces 1m, 99m. So in total how many Cuts are required?

• using 1 m thread fold the remaining 99m thread in 1 m folds and on finishing the thread of 99m cut the 2 sides of folded ends of thread and in 2 folds you will get the pieces of thread in 1m

• In questions like these there is only one simple Formula--- PIECES= CUTS + 1.
  Here,pieces= 100 (since it's a 100m thread and we want pieces of 1m each,so total pieces obtained is 100).

  100=cuts + 1
