In a race of boom, A can beat B by 60 meter and in a race of 500 meter, B can beat C by 25 meter. by how many meters will A beat C in a 400 meter race?
Read Solution (Total 2)
-
- a/b=500/440=25/22
b/c=500/474=20/19
a/b*b/c=500/418=250/209
a walks 250 and c walks 209
if a walks 400 then c walks 209/250*400=334.4
a beats c by (400-334.4)=65.6 meter - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(0)
- in 600m race, A runs 600m, & B runs 600-60=540m.
=>600/a=540/b (where a & b are apeeds of A & B respectively.)
=> a/b = 10/9.
similarly, b/c=20/19.
(a/b)*(b/c)=(10/9)*(20/19)=200/171.
=>200c=171a. => 400c=342a.
=>a beats c by 400-342=58m. - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
