- d) 30%
If side of the squre=x,
distance walked along the edges=x+x=2x
distance walked diagonally=Sqrt(x^2+x^2)=sqrt(2)*x
% of the diagonal distance to the distance along the edges =100*sqrt(2)*x/2x=70.71
So percent saved=100-70.71=29.29 ~30

- let side of square be "a"
=> ((2a-sqrt(2)a)/2a)*100=29.2%==30% - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
- ans=30%
let x=side of square lot
% saved=((2x-xsqrt(2)/2x)*100=30 - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
- 30%
