Profit and Loss
a shopkeeper sells two items at the same price. If he sells one of them at a profit of 10% and the other at a loss of 10%, find the percentage profit/loss.
Read Solution (Total 5)

- ANSWER : 0.99% LOSS
SOLUTION :
assume that SP is 100 in both case.
Using
SP = (1 + profit%/100)*CP
SP = (1 - loss%/100)*CP
We get Total CP = 1000/11 + 1000/9 = 202.02
Total SP = 100 + 100 = 200
So, Loss = CP - SP = 202.02 - 200 = 2.02
Loss% = Loss*100/CP = 0.99% - 13 years agoHelpfull: Yes(3) No(0)

- 1% loss
suppose cp=100
sell=10% profit
sp=100+10=110
sell again=10% loss
sp=110-11=99
s0 loss=cp-sp=100-99=1 - 9 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
- loss of 1 %

- The result will always be a loss and to calculate that.....
(x/10)^2 %.
Here the solution will be
(10/10)^2 % = (1)^2 = 1 % loss - 8 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
