- To calculate the day in any calendars question needs us to find the number of extra days, that is the number od days left when the total time is divided into weeks.
The number of extra days in normal year of 365 days is ONE( 52 weeks plus one more day)
Similarly, the number of extra days in leap year is Two( 52 weeks + two days)
Now between 1974 and 2004, there are 30 years, so first we have to find the total number of leap years.
For every four years, there will be one leap year, so in 30 years there will be 7 leap years.
But as 2004 is also a leap year, we have to count 8 leap years.
Total number of extra days is (8*2) 8 leap years * 2 per leap year +22*1( 22 normal years and 1 per normal year)
So, total is 16+22 = 38, which when divided by 7, gives a remainder of 3. So, total number of extra days is 3.
As we are moving to a past days we have to subtract hte number of extra days,
So, the answer will be Wednesday-3 = Sunday

- Just see the solution for June 30,1974
1) 1900 years = 300 years from 1600 it has 1 odd day
2) 1901 to 1973 years has 18 leap years(so 18*2) and 55 ordinary years gives you 36+55=91 i.e 0 odd days
3) period from jan 1st to june 30 1974 is 181 days you get 6 odd days
so add the odd days in 1,2,3 from above at last 1+0+6=7
where 7%7=0 so it is SUNDAY.
