How many 3-digit positive integers are odd and do not contain the digit '5'?

• 1st place can be filled in 8 ways...1-9..(excluding 5)
  2nd place in 9 ways...including 0...0-9...(excluding 5)
  now 3rd digit has to be either 1,3,7 or 9 as number has to be odd...hence 4 ways..
  therefore total number of ways=8*9*4=288
