Farmer Joe started harvesting operation on a patch of cultivated land. He could have completed it in 100 min. But after 50 minutes he decided to take a break. His assistant Bill took over. Though Bill could have completed what was left to be harvested in 40 minutes, he stopped after 20 minutes and handed over the operation to his trainee Chuck. Chuck worked for 30 minutes and the entire field was harvested. What is the relative efficiency of Joe, Bill and Chuck?
option
a.12 : 15 : 16
b.10 :12 : 15
c.12 :15 :10
Read Solution (Total 1)
-
- c. 12:15:10
(I)Joe's 1 min. work= 1/100, so in 50 min. work completed=50/100=1/2
Work remained=1/2
(II)Bill's 40 min. work=1/2, so 1 min. work=1/[40/(1/2)]=1/80,
in 20 min. work completed=20/80=1/4, work remained=1/4
(III)Chuck's 30 min. work=1/4, so 1 min. work=1/[30/(1/4)]=1/120
Efficiency of Joe, Bill and Chuck= 1/100 : 1/80 :1/120 = 12:15:10 - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(2) No(0)
