A leak a tank can empty the tank in 20 hr. The leak is at 3/4th of the hight from the leak to filling pipes there which can fill the tank in 6 hr and 12 hr. If both the pipes are opend in how many hr the tank will be filled

Let the capacity of the tank is 60 litres.
Capacities of filling pipes are 10 and 5 and that of the leaking pipe is 3.

Upto the filling of 3/4 th of the tank, that is upto 45 litres are filled, only the filling pipes are working.
So, to fill the 45 litres, the two pipes will take, 3 hours.
For the last 1/4 of the tank, even the leak is working, so to fill the last 15 litres, the three pipes will take 15/(10+5-3) = 1 hour 15 minutes

So, the total time needed is 4 hours 15 minutes

Answer is 4 hours 15 minutes
