Q. Arun Kumar, Chennakesavan , Raghu and Krishnan always have discussions on various issues such as politics, international affairs, current affairs, studies etc. Once Raghu posed the following query to other group members:
Find the range of real values of x satisfying the inequalities 4x - 5 > 7 and 5x - 14 > 16"
Option
a) x > 3
b) x > 6
c) x < 3
d) x < 6
Read Solution (Total 15)
-
- 4x - 5 > 7 => 4x > 12 => x > 3 ...(1)
and 5x - 14 > 16 => 5x >30 => x > 6 ...(2)
Since 6 is greater than 3, for both inequalities namely (1) and (2) to be satisfied, x should be greater than 6 or x > 6. - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(18) No(4)
- x is greater than 3 as well as 6.So, X>3 is the ans.
- 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(5) No(9)
- x>3 as well as x>6, since 6 is greater than 3
the answer is x>6 - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(5) No(0)
- X>6 is correct..

- x>6 is correct
- 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(3) No(0)
- 4x-5>7=>x>3
5x-14>16=>x>6
from above 2 we can say that x>3 - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(2) No(4)
- b) x> 6
Solution :
4x - 5 > 7 => 4x > 12 => x > 3 ...(1)
and 5x - 14 > 16 => 5x >30 => x > 6 ...(2)
Since 6 is greater than 3, for both inequalities namely (1) and (2) to be satisfied, x should be greater than 6 or x > 6. - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(2) No(0)
- Ans = b
because only option b satttisy both the equations - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(2) No(0)
- x>3 and x>6 so anyhow x>6 is answr

- @RAVINDER SINGH NEGI
4x-5>7 satisfies if x>3 but 5x-14>16 satisfies when x>6
so to satisfie both equations 4x-5>7 and 5x-14>16 range of x should be x>6 - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(0)
- x is less than or equal to 3 and grater than or equal to 6
- 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(2)
- solving we get x>3,x>6..if we consider x>6,we may loose the data present btwn x>3 to 6...,so answer is x>3....
- 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
- take hit n trial, x>6 will be the correct ans .
- 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
- 4x>12 x>3........(i)
5x>30 x>6.......(ii)
-infinty.......................3.........................6.............+infinity
so range of x will be (6,infinty) - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
- option b is the correct one.
