Maths Puzzle
A train left Town A at 8:50 a.m., it passed Town B at 9:30 a.m. and arrived at Town C at 10:30 a.m. The distance between Town A and Town B is 100 km. Between Town B and Town C, the train travelled at 110 km/h. What was the average speed of the train for the whole journey?
Read Solution (Total 2)
-
- time taken to travel from A to B is 40 mnts....speed=(100*3/2)=150 km/hr
time taken to travel from B To C is 1 hr....distance=(110*1)=110kms
avg speed=total distance/total time=(100+110)/(1+(2/3))=210*3/5=126 kms/hr - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
- 9:30-8:50= 0:40
in 40 minute travled 100 km
speed= 100*60/40
150km/h
10:30-9:30=1:00
distance covered between b&c =110/1=110
hense average speed =total distance/total time
=210/(1+40/60)
=210*60/100
=126 km/h - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
