How many numbers are there b/w 10 and 99 such that the number exceeds it's sum of the digits by 18
Read Solution (Total 15)
-
- let x be tenth digit & y be unit digit
so number is =10*x+y
given, 10x+y=x+y+18
or 9x=18
or x=2
so no. will be of form 2y
value of y can be 0,1,2,3,...,8,9
nubers are 20,21,22,23,...,28,29
total=10 numbers - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(70) No(3)
- 10 numbers
If two digit number is 10x+y
Given x+y+18=10x+y, x=2
So numbers with 2 at tens place will satisfy this condition
Total 10 numbers from 20 to 29 can be considered. - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(13) No(2)
- there is no numbers between 18 and 99 to exceed the sum of digits 18.
- 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(7) No(10)
- none scine we get 9+9=18 none of the no. exceed sum of the digits 18
- 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(5) No(6)
- no number exceeds it's sum of the digits by 18
- 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(3) No(6)
- let the no be xy
10x+y=x+y+18
9x=18
x=2
nos in b/w 10 to 100 starting with 2 are 20,21,22,....29
total 10 numbers - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(2) No(1)
- the numbers b/w 10 and 99 are 89.
Here the sum of digits by 18 is=x+y+18
we know that 10th digit and first digit=10*x+1*y
x+y+18=10*x+1*y
x=2
by means that it is 2y
therefore there are 10 numbers that are 20,21.....29 - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(2) No(0)
- No number exceeds its sum of digits by 18.

- i think answer is 0,because maximum number is 99 9+9=18 so ans is 0.
can any one ans y its 10? compared to this..?? - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(4)
- 10x+y=x+y+18
9x=18
x=2
all the numbers with 10's place 2 are the solutions i.e, 20 to 29 - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(2)
- 15^2010 = 15*15*15..........= unit digit 5
16^2011 = 16*16*16..........= unit digit 6
15^2010+16^2011 = 5+6 =11
11/7 = remainder:4 - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(2)
- all are saying 20,21.....29.but 2+0=2 how it is greater than 18
- 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
- Of course,the answer would be 0 why there is so much confusion in this
- 9 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(1)
- numbers are 20,21,22,23,...,28,29
eg. if we consider 20
then sum of its digits are 2+0=2
hence 20 - 2 = 18 therefore the number exceeds it's sum of the digits by 18.
similarly u can check till 29 - 9 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
- The answer is 10.
There are people saying the answer is 0.They are wrong! READ THE QUESTION!
'number exceeds it's sum of the digits by 18'....so 20,21,22....29..there are 10 numbers..
Now lets clear up the confusion. Let's take 25 for an example. Here, number =25 and sum of digits =(2+5)=7...so number exceeds its sum of digits by=25-7=18!! The same can be shown for 221,21,22,23.......29
