Q. The ages of Patrick and Michael are in the ratio of 3 : 5 and that of Michael and Monica are in the ratio of 3 : 5. If the sum of their ages is 147, what is the difference between the ages of Patrick and Monica?

given x+y+z=147

The common person given in ratio is Michael so, make his part equal for both ratios. to make them equal,

Diffrence between age of Pratik and monika is 25-9=16x.
Now, sum of their ages =147 Therefore, (9+15+25)x=147
49x=147
x=3
