Q. What is the next number of the following sequence
2, 9, 5, 49, 11, 169, ?

• 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 17.... prime nos are-- 2,3,5,7,11,13,17.
  in the even places square the no and rest of d nos as it is..2,9,5,49,11,169,17.
  so the next term is 17.

• Even places are the square of prime no. Whereas odd places are prime no. So 17 is the correct answer.

• the answer will be 23. as odd places have the logic : 2*2 +1 =5, 5*2+1 =11, 11*2+1=23. had the odd places followed only the logic of prime numbers, then the next number in the odd place after 5 would have been 7. Regards.
