Q. A cube is painted black on all sides.it is then cut into 64 cubes of equal size. How many of these smaller cubes are painted on one side only?

• consider a 4*4*4 cube is cut into 64 cubes of 1*1*1
  for one face,
  no. of cube painted only one side is = 4*4-12 = 4
  so for 6 faces of cube,
  no. of cubes painted only one side is = 6*4 = 24
  ans 24

• 24.. its a cube of 4*4*4. so all the cubes at the edge will be painted balck on two sides and cubes at the corner will be painted on three side... now we will have 4 cube at the center of each surface that are painted only on one side... now 4*6 we get 24....
