  take 1st & 3rd number... 5 & 6.5... +1.5
  take 2nd & 4th number... 6 & 6.5... +0.5
  so 5,6,6.5,6.5,8,7,9.5,"7.5,11"

  5,6.5,8,9.5 and 6,6.5,7 (difference for 1st series is 1.5 where as the 2nd series is .5) so the series continuation is

  8 7 9.5 x
  5+3=8
  6+1=7
  6.5+3=9.5
  So,6.5+1=7.5
  hence x=7.5.
