Q. Two persons have 64 and 20 barrels of wine. the first one pays tax 5 barrels and 40 frames. the second one pays 2 barrel and got back 40 frames. What is the value of each barrel and the tax paid on each barrel?
Read Solution (Total 4)
-
- let X has 64b & Y has 20b
tax paid by X for 64b =(5b+40f)& Y for 20b=(2b-40f)
tax paid by X for 1b =(5b+40f)/64 & Y for 1b=(2b-40f)/20
so (5b+40f)/64=(2b-40f)/20
or 20(5b+40f)=64(2b-40f)
or 100b+800f=128b-2560f
or 28b=3360f
or 1b=120f
i.e 1barrel=120frames
& tax paid on each barrel=(2b-40f)/20=(2*120-40)f/20= 10 frames - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(45) No(1)
- let 1 barrel is equivalent to x frames. so,
frst person pays 5x+40 frames for 64 barrels and second person pays 2x-40 frames for 20 barrels.
equating the ratios
64/20= (5x+40)/(2x-40)
solving it x= 120
i.e 1 barrel= 120 frames
n tax on 1 barrel= 10 frames - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(3) No(0)

- the other shot cut is ,
- as two persons are suppose to pay the same % of tax with respect to their available barrels,
so 2nd person has 20b and he payed only 2 as tax its like 10% , so we can approximately say 10 s ans - 9 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
