2. thief stole half of remaining and 2 more

4. same as above.

Read Solution (Total 3)

- answer=60
let the total diamonds x.
first person took x/2 and extra 2,
so the remaining are (x/2)-2= let it be y,
similarly , the second person took y/2 + 2, so remaining are y/2 -2.........
after 4 similar attempts, the shop is left with 0 diamonds,
so the final expression will be
1/2*(1/2*(1/2*(x/2 -2)-2)-2)-2 =0
from this x =60
so, first person took 60/2 +2 =32
2nd person took 28/2 +2 = 16
3rd person took 12/2 +2 =8
4th person took 4/2 +2 =4
so........we are left with 0 diamonds in the shop.. - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(4) No(0)
- Let diamonds be X
X/2 + 2 ,(X/2 - 2)/2 + 2 , 3x/8 +1/2+2 ,finally (x - ((3x-4)/2 + 2)) / 2 + 2 = 0(total)
from this we get x=60...
lets check
60 are total coins...
1.60 / 2 + 2 = 32 are stolen... 28 are remaing...
2.28 /2 + 2 = 16 are stolen... 12 are remaining...
3.12/2 + 2 = 8 are stolen.... 4 are remaining....
4.4/2 + 2 = 4 are stolen.... 0 are remaing...
so, it is 60....... - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
