• For each hour the hour hand moves 360/18=20 degree.so difference between the hands at exactly 8 and 12 is 80 degree and for every minute the hour hand makes 2/9 degree and it will make 80/9=8.89 degree for 40 degree.So total answer is 88.89 degree.
