Q. If a cyclist takes 3 mins in the direction of wind for a distance of 6 m and 4 minutes againstthe direction of the wind. Assuming the cyclist applies same force on the pedals at all times,find the time taken by the cyclist in No wind?

If Speed of cyclist in no wind=x m/min.& Speed of the wind=y m/min.
Time taken in the direction of wind=6/(x+y)=3 or x+y=2 ---(i) &
Time taken against the direction of wind=6/(x-y)=4 or 2x-2y=3 ---(ii)
Solving (i) & (ii),x=7/4, y=1/4
Time taken by cyclist in no wind=6/x=6/(7/4)=24/7= 3 3/7 minutes
