Q. What is the next number of the following sequence

  so ans is 11

  and take the alternative numbers i.e. 1,3,5,7 and 2,4,6,8...
  1,3,5,7 increases by 1.5.... and 2,4,6,8 increases by 0.5...

  consider the series..
  take first 3 terms:5-6=-1
  6-6=0
  now take next 3 terms:5-6.5=-1.5
  8-6.5= 1.5
  again take next 3 terms:7-9.5=-2.5
