- The question was.
A three digit no of the form abc. If a+4b_c is divisible by 42. Then the number is always divisible by
a) 6 b)2 c) 9 d) none of these
The answer would be none of these consider these
1. no be 393 so a+4b+c i.e, 3+9*4+3=42 but the number is not divisible by 2 or 6 or 9 and it satisfies the condition given in question. So the answer is none of these.
Saranya sankar. In the question it is not given that no is divisible by 42 but instead a+4b+c is divisible by 42. - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(20) No(6)
- d-none of these
explaination: only combination of 3 digit no. formed which is divisible by 42,which satisfies a+4b+c are:-
1+4*9+5 -195
2+4*9+4 -294
3+4*9+3 -393
4+4*9+2 -492
5+4*9+1 -591
6+4*9+0 -690

- I tried so hard
And got so far
But in the end
It doesn't even matter
...kamino iti mehnat se solve kiya phir submit kiya ..net connection kya gaya!! sara kiya hua bah gaya.. feeling sad :( n so i used to say use broad band..well leave. take no, 126 b=27 and option b out nxt take b=1and put arbitrary value option a n c out remaining d so d would be the answer.... nope check this out b should be answer.... - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(4) No(4)
- But the number 42 is also divisible by 2( as in 2*21=42), then why isn't the answer b-2 ??

- ans is 6
because the number divisible by 42 means it is definitely it divided by 6 and 7(as 6*7=42)
Then the number is definitely divided by 6
ans is c - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(2) No(7)
- yup 6 .. right ... i thought its c-6 ...

- I did this way yesterday. I think its correct. given abc is 3digit num and a+4b+c is divisible by 42
Take 3 numbers such that a+4b+c is divisible by 42.
I took b=9, a=1, c=5 so the a+4b+c = 42 which is divisible by 42.
So the number abc is 195.
195 is neither divisible by 4 nor 6,9. If one example doesnot satisfy the condition. then those 3 options are not answers. Hence I thought its
d) none - 9 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(0)
- I don't get it... Suppose I take the no. as 8+(4*8)+2 = 882 it is divisible 42 as well as it is divisible by 2 & 6.... please elaborate...
getting confused.... - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(1)
- if a+4b+c is divisible by 7 and 6 tht means c must be even (4,6,8,2)
and if we put c=8 and b can be either 1 or 2 so by hit n trial a=4 the num becomes
448 divided by 7 then c-6=2 and the num is divisible by c-6 hence answer is c

- let take a no. 492(abc) now put the value 4+4*9+2==42 divisible by 42 and the no. 492 is also divisible both 2 and 6
so the answer is none of the above..
