A man engaged a servant on a condition that he will pay Rs 90 and also give him a bag at the end of the year. He served for 9 months and was given a turban and Rs 65. So the price of turban is

• let the cost of turban be y,and monthly salary be x .then
  1 condition : 12x=90 +y(90 rps and bag will be given at the end of year)
  2 condition : 9x=65 +y
  x=8.33
  now putting the value of x in1 condition then,the y=10

• Because the servant didn't serve the full year, he didn't get the bag.
  The servant only served 9 months of the year, which is 9 months out of 12, or 9/12 of a year, which is 3/4 of the year.
  So the man should have paid the servant 3/4 of 90, which is 75.
  Instead, he paid 65 and a turban. The turban must make up for the missing money i.e Rs 10

  solve the equation and get x=25/3
  sub value x in any one equation 9*25/3=65+T
  T=75-65=10;
