A company figured it needed 37.8 sq.feet of carpet for its
reception room. To allow for waste, it decided to order 20% more
material than needed. Fractional parts of sq.feet cannot be ordered.
At Rs.9/- a sq.feet, how much would the carpet cost?
Read Solution (Total 5)
-
- Needed Carpet is 37.8
Total material ordered = 37.8+(20% of 37.8)
= 37.8 + ((20/100)37.8)
= 37.8 + 7.6
= 45.4 (Round off to 46)
Given that
carpet cost per sq.feet = 9
total cost = 9*46
=414
ans is 414 - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(36) No(9)
- 37.8*1.20=226.8/5=45.36
ignoring fractional part,we get 45
therefore 45*9=405 - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(32) No(7)
- 37.8+(0.2*37.8)=45.36
therfore,45*9=405 - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(9) No(3)
- rs405
37.8+20% of 37.8=45.36=45(appx)
9*45=405 - 6 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(0)
- WE need 20% extra of what is required. so . total amount of carpet required = 37.8+(37.8*20/100)=37.8+7.56=45.36 sq.feet.
BUT we are not allowed to order in fraction. So we ROUND OFF 45.35 sq. feet to 45 sq.feet.(nearest decimal value).
hence, total amount to be paid = 45*9=405. ANSWER IS Rs. 405 - 9 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
