I have 3 grandsons. The age difference between 2 of grandsons is X year. 1st grandson is twice elder than younger one and sum of ages of all the three is y then what is age of eldest grandson?

• If a,b,c are grand sons.
  The age diff b|w b&c is "x"
  "a" is twice elder than c so, a=2(c)
  and sum of the ages is a+b+c=y
  add and sub c in LHS
  a+b-c+c+c=y
  a+x+a=y
  2a+x=y
  a=(y-x)/2

  A+B+A/2=Y
  3/2A+B=Y
