Age Problem
Q. A lady's age between 50 and 70.each of her son has many sons as his brothers. The sum of the sons and the grandsons is the lady's age. What is her age??
Read Solution (Total 4)
-
- ans is 64
let the lady has 4 sons.then each son has 3 brothers and so 3 sons.so total number of grand sons= 4*3=12 and son=4
total=12+4=16=4^2
i.e. n*[(n-1)n]=n^2
similarly, a perfect square between 50 and 70 is 64. - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(2) No(0)
- Let the no. of sons of a lady equals to x.Each sons will have (x-1) brothers ( note not x brothers)
and each brother will have as many sons as brothers. that means the total no.of grandsons of a lady is equals to x(x-1) and the total no of sons of a lady is x.
therefore the lady age is equals to x+x(x-1)= x^2. And the only option that fit in 50-70 is 64. so the lady age is 64. - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(2)

- The answer is 64.
It is given that every Son has many sons as his brothers.
Therefore , if there are 8 Sons of that lady then total grandsons will be 8*(8-1)=56 and sum of total grandsons and sons will be 56+8=64 - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(0)
