so B's 6 day work=6*1/9=2/3
remaining work done by both = 1 -2/3=1/3
now A + B 1 day work = 1/18+1/9=3/18=1/6
so work done together= 6*1/3=2days

Total work-18
A-18days means 1amount/day
B- 9days means 2amount/day
A & B-3amount/day
In total amount,last 6days B can do 6*2=12amount of work of total 18.Still 6 amount need to be done i.e., A & B does for 2days means 3amount per day.

A and B together work for x days and work done per day is
1/18+1/9=1/6 work done in x days is x/6 ,remaining work to be done by B alone is 1-x/6, one day work done is 1/9 by B,so in 6 days it does 6-x/6 work ,by solving we get x=2

Use measurement of work concept.i.e
Work = person × Day
As A --> 18days
B --> 9 days...equat both of them because they do same work.
18×A=9×B.
B = 2A. ------(1)
Now here B continue the work for 6 days and remaining work is done by both A and B.sk we get ...
6×B+(A+B)×D=total work is done by any one of them ,,let By A-->18 days.
A×18=6×B+(A+B)×D
6A=3A×D.......from equation (1). We get
D=2 days is required when both A and B works together..
