2, 8, -16, 44, -76,... ?

• if we assume the next number as X and divide the series in two halves,we get
  
  2 -16 -76 and 8 44 X
  
  Now, diff. between 2 and -16 is 18
  diff. between 8 and 44 is 36
  diff. between -16 and -76 is 60
  
  now,18= 3*6, 36=6*6, 60=6*10
  
  again,6-3=3, 10-6=4, so
  
  the diff. between X and 44 is 6*(10+5)=90
  
  so, X = 44+90=134
