Time and Work
C does half as much in a day as A and B can do together, and B does half as much again as A. If all there working together can mow 20 hectares of barely in 16 days, how long would each , working by himself take to mow 5 hectares?
Read Solution (Total 9)
-
- 1/a+1/b=2/c
1/b=1/2a
&16(1/a+1/b+1/c)=1...........(1 work for mow 20 hect)
after solving
c=48 days for 20 hect mow
so for 5 hect c=12 days
again after solving
a=9 days & b=18 days - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(11) No(0)
- c can mow 5 hectares in 12 days....b takes 18 days..a takes 9 days

- 1/A+1/B=1/2C.......(i)
1/B=1/2A
1/A+1/B+1/C=1/16
FROM (i)
1/2C+1/C=1/16
3/2C=16
C=24
BUT IT HAS TO MOW ONLY 5 HECTARES
24/4=6 DAYS
AGAIN PUTTING VALUES OF C WE GET VALUES OF
A=9 DAYS
B=18 DAYS

- c will mow 5 hectares in 13 days, b in 26/3 days and c in 52/3 days

- Let 1 day work of A=1/x
then B-1day work- 1/2x \\ 1/2 of A
A+B=1/x+1/2x= 3/2x
C-1day work- 3/4x \\ 1/2 of A+B
A+B+C= 1/x + 1/2x + 3/4x= 9/2x\\ A,B&C's together work in 1 day.
In 16days they together mow 20hectares
In 1 day they together mow 20/16= 5/4 hectare
So, 9/2x=5/4 => x=3.6 day
2x= 7.2 day, 4/3x=4.8 day
Hence it will take 3.6, 7.2 and 4.8 day respectively by A,B&C to mow 5 hectares each. - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(5)
- 15A/4 * 5*16divide by A*20=15 days

- mow 5 hectares by A,B,C in 9,8,12 respectively.

- C = (A+B)/2
B=A/2
So,
Efficiency of A:B:C=4:2:3
Now total efficiency=4+2+3=9
Total work=9*16=144
and 144 value is =20 hectares
Now,
5 hectares=(144/20)*5=36
Then A takes time=36/4=9
B=36/2=18
C=36/3=12 - 2 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
