Time and Work
If 6 men and 8 boys can do a piece of work in 10 days while 26 men and 48 boys can do the same in 2 days, What time taken by 15 men and 20 boys in doing the same type of work ?
Read Solution (Total 6)
-
- If 6 men and 8 boys can do a piece of work in 10 days while 26 men and 48 boys can do the same in 2 days,
60 M +80B = 52M+96 B
Then 8M =16 B
1M =2B
6M= 12 B
6 men and 8 boys = 20 Boys
15 men and 20 boys = 50 Boys
so 20 boys can do a piece of work in 10 days
and 50 boys can do a piece of work in 10*20/50 = 4 days

- 26m + 48b = 1/2
6m + 8b = 1/10
so m = 1/100 and b = 1/200
so, 15m + 10b = 25/100 = 1/4 - 13 years agoHelpfull: Yes(13) No(4)
- 6m+8b=2(3m+4b) can do the work in 10 days
so 3m+4b can do the work in 20 days
so (15m+20b)=5(3m+4b) can do the work in 20/5=4 days - 9 years agoHelpfull: Yes(4) No(0)

- Units of work done is measured in terms of man-days, boy-days etc. you will have to find our the number of man-days and boy-days required to do the job and equate it.
10(6M+ 8B) = 2 (26M + 48B) since the same work is done they will be equal
60M + 80B = 52M + 96B
8M = 16B or M = 2B substitute 2B = M and you will get the total man-days required to do the job and it is
10( 6M + 4M) = 100 man-days
Similarly substitute 20B as 10M to find out the answer
x(15M+10M) = 100M
solving this x = 4 so 15 men and 20 boys will have to work for 4 days to complete the job - 7 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(0)
