The age of two friends is in the ratio 6:5, the sum of their ages is 66. After how many years will the ages be in the ratio 8:7?

• their present ages are
  6/(6+5) *66 = 36 & 5/(6+5) *66 = 30
  
  let after x years, their ages will be in the ratio 8:7
  
  then, (36+x)/(30+x)=8/7
  => 7*36 +7x = 8*30 + 8x
  => x=12
