A family X went for a vacation. Unfortunately it rained for 13 days when they were there. But whenever it rained in the mornings, they had clear afternoons and vice versa. In all they enjoyed 11 mornings and 12 afternoons. How many days did they stay there totally?

• clearly 11mornings and 12 afternoons = 23 half days
  since 13 days raining means 13 half days.
  so 23-13 =10 halfdays ( not effecetd by rain )
  so 10 halfdays =5 fulldays
  total no. of days = 13+5 =18 days

  11m+12a=23----> 23 half days
  so total half days= 23+13= 36
  full day 36/2= 18 days

• rain falls only either at afternoon or in the evening .
  so clearly 11+12=23 halfs.
  in that 13 are effected due to rain
  so remaining 10 are not effected by rain so we can use both afternoon and evening..hence 5 days...
