7+0+6+2+1 =16.
To solve these kind of problems there are some rules
1. Every letter is unique digit.
A P P L E
+ P R E L
------------
G R A P S
------------
1. As every letter is unique digit A is not equal to G.
2. But Maximum carry that can be produced by two digits is 1
3. So A+1=G
4. As we have carry on the last column P+P must be greater than 10
5. Let P=5. Then We will get R=0 (As P+P=10, 1 is a carry R=0)
6. First column E+L=S, Second Column L+E=P. Adders(E,L) same in both, but Answers (S,P) are different. So definitely fist column generates carry.
7. Let E=7, L=4 then S=1. L+E+1(carry)=12 we get P=2. One goes as carry to third column
8. Third Column --> P(5)+R(0)=A(6)
9. Last Column --> A(6)+1=G(7) - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(2) No(2)

Each alphabet represents an unique number. We have 0-9 as our numbers.
By looking at the 5 digit answer by adding a 3 and a 4 digit number confirms us that P & O represents 1 and 0 respectively. No other choice is left.
Now, we will see that addition of H and U will be greater than 9 us to carry over 1. Plus we have repetitions of W,O,H. Hence we will have same value for a particular alphabet everywhere.
Keeping all constraints in mind, after solving, we will have only one solution.
P=1, O=o, W=6, E=4, R=2, H=7, C=3,
U=8.
Hence p+o+w+e+r= 12 - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(2) No(4)

- H O W 8 0 5
+M U C H 9 4 7 8
----------- ---------
P O W E R 1 0 2 8 3
so p+O+W+e+r=1+0+2+8+3=14
is it possible to have two ans?
its depend on options.

- HOW+MUCH=Power
o=0,p=1,r=2,c=3,e=4,w=5,h=7,u=8,m=9
so 1+0+5+4+2=12 - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
