3w is an odd number.
2w is an even number.

• neither of the statements justify it. eg: let w=-1; 3*-1=-3 is odd;2*-1=-2 is even; but -1 is not a whole number.So, neither of statements justify it.

• Here they are asking about whole number. (i.e) Whole_number=0,1,2,3,4.....
  So we need to substitute all the numbers in the place of 'w' and need to satisfies the queries.
  Here if we substitute w=1, Then 3*1=3(odd) / 2*1=2(even) satisfies but If we substitute w=2, Then 3*2=6(even) / 2*2=4(even) not satisfied. So w is not a whole number.
