A cheetah spots a gazelle 300 m away and sprints towards it at 100 km/h. At the same time, the gazelle runs away from the cheetah at 80 km/h. How many seconds does it take for the cheetah to catch the gazelle?
Read Solution (Total 1)
-
- as speed of gazelle = 80km/h = 200/9 m/sec
speed of cheetah= 100km/h = 250/9 m/sec
let time take by cheetah be time t to catch gazelle
here in time same time let the distance covered by gaxelle in time t is x
therefore the cheetah have to cover 300+x distance
as time are equal
therefore
x/(200/9)=(300+x)/(250/9)
hence we get x= 1200 m
now the distance for cheetah is 300+1200=1500m
1500/(250/9)=54sec - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
