  I am trying to explain it..
  See,1)since E+R=E --> R must be zero.
  2)Since, A is giving G as addition, so G must be one more than A or A+1=G.
  which also implies that P+P must add upto 10 or more than that.
  3)Also,since R=0,it means P+P must be 10-->P=5.
  4)Now, we have R=0,P=5.
  5)Since L+A is giving p and there is no carry from E+R(because E could be 9 maximum).So,to have 5 we can have various permutations as (1,4),(4,1),(3,2)(2,3), and for greater than 10,we have(8,7),(7,8),(9,6),(6,9).
  so the problem now is that what should be the correct one for L,A.
  5.1) If we take (1,4) then A will be 4, but while calculating p+E=A,we have take E=9 and P=5(already calculated),but it will give us a carry for calculating P+P, which should not be there because P+P should be 10 only.Similarly, all the possible permutations adding to 5 are also not permitted.
  5.1)So, we have to add L+A upto 15.If we take,A=8 and L=7, then there will be no problem at all,because P+E=A, and we can take E=2. So,Finally A could be taken as 8 to give G as 9.
  hence,solved.
  so,A=8,P=5,L=7,R=0,E=2,G=9.
