with coordinates 36N70W. What is the local time when my plane landed?

- The destination place is 80 degree west to the starting place.
Foer each degree, the time diff is 4 mins.
Hence the time difference between these two places is 4*80=320 mins or 5 hrs 20 mins.
When the flight landed, the time at the starting place is 12 noon (2 AM + 10 hours).
Hence, the time at the destination place is 12 00 hrs – 5:20 hours = 6: 40 AM - 13 years agoHelpfull: Yes(82) No(25)
- First read the concept of Latitude and Longitude at http://www-istp.gsfc.nasa.gov/stargaze/Slatlong.htm
then why the difference between 18N 10E and 36N70W is 80 degree(why not 60!!!!) (for that here a good example http://drifters.doe.gov/track-a-yoto/Image34.gif )its
because 10E to 70W ,it counts from 0 so 70W to 0 and 0 to 10E so its 80 degree.
Then for each degree why the time difference is 4 min, because earth rotate 360 degree in 24 hr,so in 1 hr it takes rotation of 15 degree(360/24),now it rotate 15 degree in 60 min(1 hr) so it rotate 1 degree in 4 min.
then we calculate time differnce as 1 degree in 4 min so 80 degree in 320 min=5 hrs 20 mins.
When flight landed the time at starting place is 12 noon(2AM+10 hours)
and it goes to west the difference is done by doing subtraction (if it goes to east then we perform addition)
so the time at destination place is 12:00 hr-5:20 hr=6:40 AM - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(47) No(1)
