A reduction of 20% in the price of lipsticks could enable rakhi to get 12 more for rs 1440 find original price?
Read Solution (Total 6)
-
- let "x" be the price of 1 lipstick
let "y" be the no. of lipsticks which was bought b4 reduction
so x*y=1440 ------>(1)
reduction of 20 % means x*20/100= x/5
so the price of 1 lipstick ll become x-x/5 ====> 4x/5
v can buy 12 more lipstick for new price (4x/5)
y(4x/5)+12(4x/5)=1440 ---->(2)
solving these 2 equations we ll get x=30...
So original price of each lipstick is 30rs

- ans : Rs 30
Let x be the price of lipstick and y number of lipsticks bought
xy = 1440
Since price of lipstick reduces by 20%
price is 80x/100
ie
80x/100 * (y+12) = 1440
x* (y+12) = 1800
xy +12x = 1800
12x = 1800 - 1440 ( since xy = 1440)
x = 30 - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(6) No(0)

- answer will be 30
"Reduction in the price of lipstic allows to purchase more lipstic then previous".
Therefore % increase in consumption of lipstic = (20*100)/(100-20) = 25%
It means 25% = 12 (bcoz given in the question)
multiplying by 4 on both sides we have,
100% = 48
From above we conclude that 48 lipstics can be purchased in 1440 RS.
Therefore original price of a lipstic is 1440/48 = 30 RS. - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(0)
- 80=(1440*20)/100*12,
100%=(1440*20*100)/80*100*12=30 - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
