For the same amount of work carpenter A takes 6 hours less than carpenter B, if together they complete the work in 13 hrs 20 min; in how much time will carpenter B alone complete the work?

x(x+6)/(x+x+6) = 13 hrs 20 min
x(x+6)/(2x+6) = 40/3 hrs
3x(x+6) = 40(2x+6)
solving x = 24

Both ll finish in 13 hrs 20 min (ie) 40/3 hrs
A + B 's 1 hr work is
1/B-6 + 1/B = 3/40
B+B-6/B^2-6B = 3/40
3B^2-98 +240 = 0
After factorizing , v ll get B = 8/3 nd B = 30
Take whole number (ie) B=30
so A = B-6 =====> A = 30 - 6 = 24
