The average age of 8 men is increased by 2 years.while two of them were 20 and 24 replaced by two women..what is the avg age of two women?
Read Solution (Total 4)
-
- 30
Let the average age of 8 men be x
sum of their age = 8x
Let sum of age of 2 women be 'b'
(8x + b -44)/8 = x+2
8x+b-44 = 8x+16
b = 16+44
=60
average age of women = 60/2 = 30

- let sum of ages of 8 men was x
hence average age of 8 men x/8
now 2 men excluded i.e. sum of ages x-(20+24)= x-44
let sum of ages of 2 women included is y
hence total age of 6 men and 2 women is x+y-44
thus, average becomes (x+y-44)/8
according to problem,
(x+y-44)/8 = (x/8)+2
i.e. y=60
hence average age of women is y/2
i.e. 30 yrs - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(0)
- let initial average age be x
24 years
since now 6*x+20+24/8 = x
hence x = 22
now age is increased by 2 hence total increament of 16 years in 8 people but 2 has to be replaced so new avg would be 24 - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
- ((20+24)+(8*2))/2
gives u 30... - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
