Averages
There are 60 students in a class and they are divided into three groups A,B,C of 10,20,30 students respectively having average weight W(a),W(b),W(c). Group A and C are merged to form a group D. A student from Group D is shifted to Group B such that average of both the groups decreases. That could be the relation explaining the condition:
a) W(a)

- We have,
Avg wt. of Grp A= w(a)
Avg wt. of Grp B= w(b)
Avg wt. of Grp C= w(c)
Now, Grp A and B are got merged.. Nd let Avg wt. of Grp D= w(d).
Since Avg wt of Grp B gets decreased when member from Grp D is added. It means,
w(b)> w(d).
Now, w(d)= (10*w(a)+30*w(c))/40
Therefore, w(b) > (10*w(a)+30*w(c))/40 On Solving,
4*w(b) > w(a) + 3*w(c).
