Maths Puzzle
Time and Work
The velocity of a falling object is a linear function of the time t it has been falling. If v = 20 when
t = 0 and v = 53 when t = 11, express v as a function of t.
Read Solution (Total 2)
-
- v = 20+3t
Since velocity, v is a linear function of time, t
v = x + yt---(1)
when v = 20 , t = 0
substituting these values
20 = x + y*0
x = 20
when v = 53, t=11
substituting the values in (1)
53 = 20 + y*11
y = 3
So,
v = 20+3t

- v = 3t + 20
because when v=20, t=0
and v=53 t=11
let us consider two point form of straight line
(0,20),(11,53) be two coordinates.
v-20 = (33/11)(t-0)
v = 3t+20
