Permutation and Combination
There is 4 coins 1 paisa, 5 paise, 10 paise, 25 paise using these coins we have to make 50 paisa how many combination can we make
Read Solution (Total 14)

- there should be 49 combinations
i think 4 coins mean you have only 1,5,10,25.
p+5q+10r+25s=50
we'll take cases for s=0,1 and 2
for s=0,r=0,q can be 0 to 10=11 combinations
for s=0,r=1,q can be 0 to 8=9 combinations
for s=0,r=2=>q=0 to 6=7 combinations
for s=0,r=3=>q=0-4=5 combinations
for s=0,r=4=>q=0-2=3 com
s=0,r=5=>q=0=1 com
for s=1,r=0=>q=0-5=6 comb
s=1,r=1==>q=0-3=4 comb
s=1,r=2 ==>q=0-1=2 comb
s=2,r=0,q=0,p=0==>1 comb
hence total combinations are 49
Note:there p's condition is already considered when we are taking values for q.

- I think the no. of combinations are zero because as said in ques there are only 4 coins to be used but the sum of all the coins(1+5+10+25=41). Thus all these coins together taken 1 at a time can not make 50 paisa.

- plz anyone can explain clearly

as we have 4 coins each the combinations would be :
1. 25*2=50
now we can proceed by dividing 25 in various combinations as follows :
2.25+((10*2)+5)=50
3.25+(10+(5*3))=50
as we have to use all the coins the ans would be 3 combinations.

- by 5 =10 comb.
by 10=5 comb.
by 25=2 comb.
by 1=50 comb.
max=50
total comb=67
expected comb=17. - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(3) No(6)
- only 2 combinations possible
25+10+5+(1p*10)
25+10+(5p*2)+(1p*5) - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(2) No(7)
- using any 1 coin + using any two coins +...+using all 5 coins
5c1+5c2+5c3+5c4+5c5=31
so 31 combi is possible.
i.e using all coins there is only one combination possible
using 2 coins there are 5c2 combi possible=10 so on we will get 31

- I want to Know how many coins be used to make 50paisa ???

- logic is ,
we have 4 coins so possible combination= 2^4-1=15.

- I hope you mean that there are four denominations available and you can use any number of coins of a particular denomination to make the total sum as 50 paise.
In that case it is easier to observe that number of 1 paisa coins must be multiple of 5. So let number of 1 paisa coins be 5a, 5paise be b, 10 paise be c and 25 paise be d.
Thus we have, 5a + 5b + 10c + 25d = 50
i.e. a + b + 2c + 5d = 10
It's easier to calculate now with smaller values. Just check by putting d = 0, 1 and 2 and the total cases come out to be: (1 + 3 + 5 + 7 + 9 + 11) + (2 + 4 + 6) + (1) = 49 - 7 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
