Age Problem
Martha is 4 times the age of her daughter,Lyndra 4 years ago she was 8 times her daughters age,after how may years will martha be twice lyndra's age
Option
a) 14y
b) 28y
c) 7y
d) 21y
Read Solution (Total 4)
-
- Let m nd l be the present ages of Martha nd Lyndra
Then m=4l
4 years ago
(m-4)=8(l-4)
m = 8l-28
Equate "m"
4l = 8l - 28
4l = 28
l = 7
m = 28
After x years , Martha ll be twice of Lyndra
(m+x) = 2(l+x)
28+x = 2*7+2x
28+x = 14+2x
x = 14
So after 14 years martha and lyndra ages ll be 42 nd 21
Ans : a) 14 years - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(43) No(9)
- 1) Let present age ,
linda=x and Martha= 4x
2) 4 yrs ago equation like these,
8(x-4)=(4x-4)
after solving x=7
3) present ratio of linda and martha is
7 : 28
now with the help of option we jst try hit nd trial method
and answer comes ,
=7+14 : 28+14
= 21: 42
=1:2
so option (a) 14 is right answer...
