A subscriber is allowed to make a certsin number of telephone calls for a lump sum charge of rs 300.beyond that he is charged at a caertain rate per call. Two subscribers together make 1400 were chage rs 425 and 925 respectively. if a single person had made all of the 1400 call would have charged rs 1550. how many telephon calls are allowed for the first rs 300?

now the two subscriber made 1400 total calls
so first subscriber made charged call for (425-300)=125,second made for (925-300)=625
let first man made y calls for 125 rs,second will make 5y calls as 625/125=5
now both will make total 2x calls for 300 each
so we get 2x+6y=1400
now in second case person will make x calls for 300 and 10 y for 1250(1550-300)
now 2nd eqn x+10y=1400
solving both we get x=400

put x=400
800+600=600+750
now for 600 call there is Rs=750.
so for one call there is Rs=750/600=1.25 -------(1)

400+1000=300+1250
now for 1000 call there is Rs=1250.
