the total wages of apiece of work if done by A & B together(in equal proportion) areRs 17300. A can do 80% of this work in 64 days and B can do 70% of the same work in 59.5 days. the wage rate of A is 110% of that of B. A can be employed for a maximum of 70% of the work and b for 60% of the work. the min cost fro getting the work done would be?

80% --- 64
100% --- x
x = 100*64/80 = 80 days
ie A the finish the work in 80 days
B can do 70% work in 59.5 days
70% --- 59.5
100% --- x
x = 100*59.5/70 = 85 days
ie B the finish the work in 85 days
Given work done by A and B together in equal proportion. So half of the work is done by A and the other half by B.
So
A takes 40 days(80/2 days) to do half of the work
and
B takes 42.5 days(85/2 days).
Let the wage rate of B be x
wage rate of A = 110% of B's wage rate
= 110/100*x
= 1.1x
Total wage = 17300
Wage = number of days worked*wage rate
17300 = 40*1.1x + 42.5*x
17300 = 86.5x
x = 200
ie, wage rate of B = Rs 200/day
wage rate of A = Rs 220/day
For minimum cost, the work is done by B alone.
Minimum cost for getting the work done = 200*85
=Rs 17000
