Helpers are needed to prepare for the fete. Each helper can make either 2 large cakes or 35 small cakes per hour. The kitchen is available for 3 hours and 20 large cakes and 700 small cakes are needed. How many helpers are required?

• 1helper takes 1 hr. -> 2 large OR 35 small
  1helper takes 3 hr. -> 6 large OR 105 small
  
  3 helper takes 3 hr. to make 18 large cakes..
  6 helper takes 3 hr. to make 105*6=630 small cakes..
  
  so remaining cakes -> 2 large and 70 small..
  clearly 1 worker can do the job in 1 hr (2 large) and 2 hr (70 small)

  Suppose there is only 1 helper
  
  Time taken to cook 20 large cakes is -> 20/2 =10 hours
  Time taken to cook 700 small cakes is -->700/35= 20 hours
  
  But we have kitchen available only for 3 hours...
  so total work is
  
  1helper * 30 hours = X helper * 3 hours
  X=10 helper

  labour reqd for 35 small cakes =labour reqd for 2 large cakes
  labour reqd for 700 small cakes = labour reqd for 2*700/35 = 40 large cakes.
  
  so total labour reqd is eqvt to labour reqd for 20+40=60 large cakes in 3 hrs
  labour reqd in 1 hr is eqvt to labour reqd for 20 large cakes
  for which 20/2= 10 helpers are reqd as Each helper can make either 2 large cakes or 35 small cakes per hour.

• 20 large cakes will require the equivalent of 10 helpers working for one hour. 700 small cakes will require the equivalent of 20 helpers working for one hour. This means if only one hour were available we would need 30 helpers. But since three hours are available we can use 10 helpers.
