Numerical Ability
On children’s day sweets were to be equally distributed amongst 200 children. But on that particular day 40 children remained absent; hence each child got 2 sweets extra. How many sweets were distributed? shortcut trick
Read Solution (Total 4)
-
- let x be the number of sweets is given to each student.
Then, 200*x = 200x(total number of sweets distributed)
and 160*(x+2)= 160x+32(total number of sweets)
160x+320 = 200x
320=40x
x=80 - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(2) No(0)
- total 200
absent 40
200-40=160
each got 2 means 160*2=320 - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(0)
- 1600
If each student got 'x' sweets when their strength is 200
So total number of sweets= 200x ---(i)
When students are 160, each student got 'x+2' sweets
Total number of sweets= 160(x+2) ---(ii)
As number of sweets in both the case is same, 200x= 160(x+2) ,x=8
So total number of sweets= 200x or 160(x+2)= 1600
OR
If number of sweets= x
Sweets each students got,when they are 200= x/200 ---(i)
Sweets each students got,when they are 160=x/160 ---(ii)
Each student in (ii) got 2 extra than the (i)
So, (x/200)+2 =x/160
(x+400)/200= x/160 ,On solving,x=1600 - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
- let x is the no of sweets given to each children.
total sweets=200x
absent=40
200-40=160
160(x+2)=200x
160x+320=200x
x=8
total sweets=200*8=1600. - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
