• consider a triangle, with a line joining the vertex and the opposite side ie. the ht of lighthouse 100m..now consider the angle to the left of lighthouse as 30 n right as 45..therefore tan 45 = 100/x...x= 100. again tan 30 = 100/y..y= 173.2..hence the distance between d 2 boats = x+y = 273.2

• Frm the question it's clear tht angle of elevation fr 2 boats frm light house is 30 n 60 degrees. Height of the light house is 100. So when a diagram is drawn u get a triangle with a line frm tip of the triangle to the horizontal line.(distance b/w 2 boats)
  So frm trignomerty u can individually find the disatance b/w 2 boats .
  Use tan 30 and tan 45 with height of lighthouse (as opp side) to find adjacent sides respectively n add them.
  So u get 100+100√3m.
